Computer System Analyst
Responsibilities:
- Perform configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of IT hardware and software across laptops, mobile devices, printers, and network infrastructure.
- Engage with vendors for hardware repairs and maintain accurate inventory and management of IT assets, including computers, peripherals, and field network infrastructure.
- Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize computer network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and data room equipment.
- Collaborate with field and enterprise network teams to ensure secure, reliable, and performant network services for business-critical operations.
- Assist with planning and designing office network layouts, evaluating the effectiveness of network hardware, software, and communication systems, and recommending improvements.
- Manage and maintain network-related assets and inventory, ensuring accurate tracking of field network infrastructure.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for network incidents, utilizing IT Service Management tools to ensure timely resolution and effective communication throughout the support cycle.
- Engage with business units to ensure network project objectives and deadlines are clearly understood and met, assisting with all phases of network project lifecycle management.
- Keep stakeholders informed of upcoming network activities, changes, and issues, and provide training and support on network-related topics to peers and teams.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience in IT or telecommunications is acceptable.
Experience:
- Proven experience in designing, supporting, deploying, and managing network infrastructures, including structured cabling, fiber optics, and internet networking technologies (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
- Hands-on experience working with on-site construction teams and managing relationships with general contractors and vendors.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, and computer hardware/software with a minimum of two years in related roles.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of optical transport technologies and industry standards for cabling design and installation.
- Understanding of IT principles and governance frameworks such as ITIL.
- Certifications like CCNA or A+ are considered assets.
Physical & Operational Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and provide after-hours support on a rotational basis, including overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Occasional travel required within the local geography.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to set strategic direction and execute tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for guiding end-users through IT inquiries.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress in high-pressure situations.
